Dear Friends,

We are eager to meet together for our next CS Monitor prayer session on Monday, October 19th at 7pm ET. These meetings bring forth insightful discussions and wonderful opportunities to come together in a thoughtful and prayerful way for our world. Joe will be our host. We would love to have you join us.

This week we have an article with the focus of ASIA: SOUTH & CENTRAL that we will consider together. The link is listed below. It is helpful to have read or listened to the article beforehand, but you are welcome to join us regardless. Feel free to share this email with others who might want to participate, as well.

In backroom ‘sewing’ classes, Afghan women stitch together an education in secret

By Mark Sappenfield, Senior global correspondent, OCT. 9, 2026, 12:01 P.M. ET

WHY WE WROTE THIS

In Afghanistan, courageous teachers and students are finding ways to educate girls right under the Taliban’s nose. These underground networks reflect Afghans’ hopes for a better future.

We are looking forward to this expression of church that propels us towards prayer.

Warmly

Your JP Monitor prayer team (Brian, Janell, Joe, Sarah and Tee)
